A guide to get you registered and uploading videos to lovely youcamp.co.uk
- How to become a youcamp member:
Simply click on the Register today button up in the top right corner,
Then once the page loads enter your email address, username, password.
Tick the box saying you agree to our terms (of course click on 'our terms' to view them)
Type in the security text and press register.
You will be instantly registered and able to upload videos and comment on others, upload a profile picture and make friends.
If you have any problems, enter the wrong email etc etc. please contact us on mail@youcamp.co.uk and we will see what we can do.
- How to get video ready for the site:
You can use anything to film your video, a normal video camera, a digital stills camera (with movie option), webcam, or your mobile phone.
Once filmed you need to get your video onto your computer, hopefully your chosen device will tell you how to do this in a manual etc etc. Generally video cameras connect via a firewire cable and capture to your editing program, for phones and digital cameras send the file via usb cable, memory card reader or if your lucky bluetooth. Webcams record straight to your computer.
Once on your computer you can upload it straight to the site (as long as it fits within our maximum file size). Or you may want to edit it...
- Max upload file size 200mb
- How to edit your video, add titles and export it:
To do basic video editng and title making in Microsoft Window you can use 'Windows Movie maker',

For more advanced editing on Windows try out Adobe Premiere Elements.
On a mac have a go with the easy to use editng program 'imovie'

for more advanced editing on a mac try out Apple Final Cut Pro.
Once your ready to export your edited video you need to choose a format.
- Formats Accepted on youcamp.co.uk
MPG (MPEG 1's), QT (Quicktime), WMV's, AVIs, and FLVS.
Sorry but at the moment we can't accept, 3gp or mpeg 4 files. Will work on those for the future.
- How to upload a video:
Once registered click the upload button on the right of the main menu,
Here you give your video its title e.g:
'Abersoch Farm Campsite Video Review 2008'.
Then a more detailed description, no more than 50 words is needed e.g:
'Video review of our weekend in Abersoch farm campsite on the West Coast of Wales, on the sea, drunken evening fun seriously cold, lovely site, spot of surfing at Hells Mouth.'
Then add some Tags, these are the words that will help people find your video e.g:
'Abersoch Wales Coast campsite camp camping pitch tent campervan seaside sea video review surf surfing'
Then choose a category for the video to go from the drop down menu,
Fill out where the video was recorded (useful for the future of this site when we add a campsite finder)
You then have the options for:
Allowing comments (lets other youcamp members comment on your video)
Allowing video embedding (lets people add your video to their myspace, facebook or similar pages).
Make the video public or private (Allows your video to be available to everyone or just your youcamp friends)
Once thats all done click next.
On this screen click browse and choose where your video is on your own computer.
then.. press upload.
Now depending on the speed of your connection and the size of the video, it will upload in anything from 1 minute to 1 hour.
Once uploaded wait around 5 minutes for the video to be processed then it should appear on the site.
Hopefully now you will have successfully uploaded your first video...well done and thankyou for contributing to our growing site youcamp.co.uk
